Biography

We know from his will that he was a shipwright.

He married Martha Hender on 13 Nov 1740 in Boston, Massachusetts.[1]

The births of several of their children were located in the Amesbury, MA town records (all shown as children of Thomas Barnard and wife Martha)[2]:

  • Samuel 25 Sep 1741
  • Susannah 31 Aug 1746
  • Charles 14 Jul 1748
  • Anna 4 Sep 1750
  • Jonathan 12 Mar 1753

Other sons named in will:

  • William
  • Ezekiel
  • Thomas

Will

Thomas wrote his will on 1 May 1791. He doesn't mention his wife, so she must have died prior to this time. He names son Samuel; dau Susanna, wife of Ephraim Blasdell; children of late daughter Anne, wife of Levi Currier; son Charles of Warner; son Jonathan; son William; son Ezekiel; son Thomas. Son Thomas sole executor. Probated 28 Feb 1791. (This is what is written. My guess is the clerk wrote 1 May 1791 for the date of the will when it should've been 1 May 1790).
