Johann Georg Bager II was born in 1725[1] in Niederlinxweiler, Germany to a family involved in ministry. [2] Johann Georg studied theology at Halle. [2] and would also because a Lutheran minister.[3]
The family arrived at Philadelphia on the ship Rawley on October 23, 1752. Johann George and Anna Elizabeth eventually settled in Berwick Township, PA on a 179 acre farm.[4]
In March, 1753 began his ministry in Pennsylvania. In 1763 he accepted a call to pastor in New York City, but after a short time returned to York County because "New York was not, suitable for his large family or his health."[2]
The "u" and "h" were added to the Bager name upon arrival in North America; most likely by immigration officials at the Port of Philadelphia. All Baughers in the United States are decendents of Johann Georg Bager and Anna Elizabeth Schwab.
Johann Georg was survived by 13 children (including John Jacob) and numerous grandchildren.
Both the autosomal DNA from ancestry and the Y-DNA from Familytreedna are my own and connect my paternal Martin line and the 1st 5 generations to my 2nd grandparents are shown to be correct by both websites. Jerry Baugher is a Baugher cousin of mine, a paternal Baugher.

Paternal line Y-chromosome DNA test-takers:
His official name should be "Johann Georg Bager" this is the german form and we currently have the latin form which would only be in church records. And even in the church records I found he is called "Johann Georg Bager" such as the baptism of his first son in Germany.
1) It has a ton of references that just don't link to anything. I guess they once pointed to ancestry.com reference but now don't link to anything. I was going to go through an savage the ones that work and delete the dead link references.
2) remove contradictory statements. For example, he arrived in America in 1752 in Philadephia. He didn't arrive in 1738.
3) also according to 18th Century PA German naming customs, the middle names are the common name used in everyday life. So, in America he would be called "George" or perhaps formally as "John George" such as on the ship manifest or on his tombstone. But would not be purely called by his baptismal saint name Johannius. So, the biography reads a bit false saying stuff like "Johannius was born in 1725", etc. And his wife would be called "Elizabeth" and not her baptismal name of Anna. So, this too reads false " Johannius and Anna eventually settled in Berwick Township, PA"
Baugher-236 and Baugher-69 appear to represent the same person because: Hello, information on both Baugher's are the same. Bager is another spelling from Germany...
He was rev Baugher and started over 150 Lutheran congregations on the east coast. :)
Seems like "Bager" and "Baugher" are backwards in the data. Per the text in the biography his name at birth was "Bager" and is current name should be "Baugher".
