Around June 2, 1852, William and his family left the USA and headed to Deseret, Utah Territory to help settle as Mormon pioneers. They started their travel from Kanesville, Iowa with the Benjamin Gardner Company and arrived in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Territory on September 24, 1852.[1]
