Disambiguation Space:Joshua Beal Disambiguation
The Joshua of this profile has been referred to in some publications as Joshua Beal, Jr., which is an apparent misunderstanding of records in Hingham for Joshua Beal of Hingham.[1]
Joshua Beal was born about 1722 in Weymouth, Suffolk County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of Abraham Beal and Deborah Shaw. He is named in Abraham's will. Although he evidently lived in Hingham briefly, he was otherwise a resident of Abington. He and his brother Abraham Beal, Jr. moved with their families to Cummington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, shortly after the Revolutionary War. There were numerous intermarriages between their descendants.[1]
Joshua married Elizabeth Leavitt on 21 August 1744 in Abington, Plymouth County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, by Rev. Ebenezer Gay of the First Church of Abington.[2] She was the daughter of Israel Leavitt and Mary Bates.
The children of Joshua and Elizabeth (Leavitt) Beal:[3][1]
The 1790 US census has Joshua living in Cummington.[6] Joshua died between 1790 and 1800, since he is not evident in the 1800 US census.
