Biography

John Beaton, "lain Ruadh Mac Dhomhnuill Bhain," married Sara MacDonald jr., daughter of "Fionnladh Mac Dhomhnuill Bhain," and had issue: a. Catherine (Kate), b. John, c. Dan, d. Mary, e. Mollie, f. Martina, g. Sadie and h. Annie.[1] Daughter Martina's birth registration states their marriage on 15 Oct 1871.. this is obviously a mis-transcription in the original document (based on the census below). Could be 15 Oct 1851?

John Beaton (47) is on the 1871 census with wife Sarah (40) and their children; Donald (14), John (12), Catherine (16), Mary (7), Annie (6), Angus (4), Mary (2), and Martina (2 mos).[2]

John Beaton (57) is on the 1881 census with wife Sarah (49) and their children; Catherine (25), Donald (22), John (20), Mary (17), Anne (15), Angus (14), Mary (12), Martina (12) and Sarah (5).[3]
