Bertha (Begerow) Ambelang was born in the Province of Pomerania, Prussia

Henriette Wilhelmine Bertha Begerow was born 24 July1850. She was Baptized in Bublitz, Pomerania, Prussia in the Lutheran Church on 18 Aug 1850.^[1] She emigrated to the United States in her early years, and met her lifelong husband Carl Frederick Franz Ambelang They married on 7 Nov 1869 in Chariton, Lucas, Iowa.. The couple would be the parents of 12 children, the last two daughters dying near the times of birth. She died on 01 January 1892, in Lucas, Iowa, United States. ^[2], and was buried in the family plot of Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Lucas, Iowa, United States.^[3]

Chariton, Iowa

Thursday, January 7, 1892

Mr. Frank Ambelang, of Benton township, has borne a double portion of sorrow during the past week. On last Wednesday he lost his mother after a siege of Lagrippe, and on Friday his beloved wife bade adieu to this world, ushered out by the same disease. Several other members of the family are bedfast and in critical condition. ^[3]
