Biography

Thomas was born in 1823 in Ireland.

Thomas Bell married Rachel Wood, and together they had two daughters, Mary Jane in 1852 and Margaret Ann in 1854. One family tree suggests the wedding took place on 6 Dec 1850 at St. James Anglican, Toronto, York County.

In the 1851 census Thomas, a shoemaker, was in Peel, Canada West (Ontario), Canada, and listed with his wife, Rachel (both indicated married on the form). No children listed[1]

On the 1861 census, Rachel and the two girls (identified as Jane and Ann) are alone, Rachel is indicated as a widow.

Research Notes

Reasonable to assume that Thomas passed away between 1854 and 1861. It would be great to have a record to prove that!

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
