John was baptized on 8 October 1727 at Strachan Parish in Kincardineshire, Scotland, the son of David Bell of Cammie.[1] Looking in Kincardineshire between 1740 and 1800, we find children baptized with father John Bell only at Strachan and only betwen 1751 and 1773, consistent with a single family group (with a little uncertainty about the gap between the eldest child William bap. 1751 and the next, John, bap. in 1758). These children are:
William bap. 18 August 1751
John bap. 7 April 1758
Jean bap. 23 March 1760
Andrew bap. 3 November 1762
David bap. 28 October 1764
Andrew bap. 26 April 1767
Isaac bap. 29 September 1769
James bap. 15 May 1773

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
