Biography
Margaret was born in 1786 in Pennsylvania. Her maiden name and family are unknown. She likely married her husband, William Bennett in Pennsylvania.
After she was married, Margaret settled with her husband and his extended family in Bethel Township, Miami County, Ohio. In 1820, she can be found as a female between the ages of 26 and 44 in William Bennett's household.[1]
The family migrated to Eel River Township in Allen County, Indiana by 1836, when William Bennett was a witness to a deed between his two brothers.[2] Margaret would remain in Eel River Township for the rest of her life.
In 1850, Margaret is enumerated in Eel River Township, Allen County, Indiana alongside her husband, William, and her children Nathan, Amon, Absalom, Maria, Margaret, Mary Ann, and also Solomon and Susan, who are likely grandchildren.[3]
In 1860, Margaret, at the age of 72, was enumerated with William, Nathan, Amon and Margaret.[4]
In 1870, she was enumerated at the age of 85 with her husband, William Bennett, and Lucy Hindman. Consistent with 1850 and 1860, her birthplace was given as Pennsylvania.[5]
She passed away in 1872, and she was buried in Eel River Cemetery in Eel River Township, Allen County, Indiana.[6]

Bennett-36936 and Unknown-453564 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse and family relationships. The Find a Grave dates are an innacurate reading of a badly weathered stone. Margaret cannot be found in the 1880 census, and her oldest child was born in 1812 after the family had migrated to Ohio, making the 1796 date unlikely.

Ancestry.com trees seem to ID this Margaret, mother of Catherine, as Margaret Slusher Bennett - she was married to William H. Bennett (1783-1874), who I think is a different William Bennett but that will need established and distinguished between all the profiles since it's so common for them to be elided on other genealogy sites.
