[1]Albert Salazar Bernal, Jr.

Albert Salazar Bernal, Jr. passed away on Jul. 29, 2012. He was 64 years old. He was born in Benson, Ariz. on Aug. 4, 1947. Much of his youth was spent working on his parents’ ranch in Tres Alamos. After graduating from high school, Albert joined the Army, where he worked on the Mohawk aircraft for three years. In between working on the Mohawk, he also found time and took great pride in playing on the champion Army softball team (Headquarters Company).

During his time in the Army, Albert married his teenage sweetheart, Vickey Lynn McDaniel, on Aug. 11, 1971. They went on to have two daughters, Shannon (Paul) and Jennifer (Daniel). After graduating from the University of Arizona, he worked for the Federal Government for 39 years, 34 of which were spent at the Social Security office in Douglas, Arizona. He retired in 2010.

Albert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Meghan (Chris), Kristen (Steven), Baleigh (David), Sarah, Gabrielle, Dean, Cassandra, Brian, Andrew, and Bella. They will always remember his willingness to take them to the Dollar Store to buy "goodies."

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Ohnesorgen Bernal, on May 23, 2012.

Memorial services were held at the Lady of Lourdes Church in Benson, Ariz., last week.
