Biography

When Adam Andrew Jackson Berry was born on November 2, 1835, in Scott, Virginia, his father, John Berry, was 44 and his mother, Nancy Hope, was 40.

He married Talitha Quaile Meredith on March 2, 1860, in his hometown. They had six children in 17 years.

He died on November 22, 1902, in Scott, Virginia, at the age of 67, and was buried there[1].

"Adam joined the Confederacy 17 Oct 1961 and was assigned to the 64th regiment Virginia, mounted infantry. He was captured on Sept 9th 1863 and processed into Camp Douglas a notorious Union POW camp in Chicago. Many Confederate soldiers died their from the horrible sanitation conditions and lack of food. Adam did get released on May 3rd 1864 and lived a long life." [2][3][4]
