Agnes was born in 1860 in Hanborough, Oxfordshire[1]. She was the daughter of Richard Berry and Anne Tallot. Her baptism took place in Hanborough on 3rd February 1861[2]. Her father stated on the register that he was a labourer.
Marriage
Walter Lay and Agnes Berry were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 18th September 1882[3]. They were bachelor and spinster and both living in Hanborough at the time. Walter was 25, a labourer and the son of George Lay who was a mason. Agnes was 22, a gloveress and the daughter of Richard Berry who was a labourer. Walter signed his own name on the register whilst Agnes could only make her mark with a cross[4].
