Ruby Amelia (Birtles) Willis was born in Mudgee, New South Wales on 26 Jan 1922. She was the daughter of Frank Lancelot Birtles and Roseannah Anna (Pile) Birtles. [1]

  4. WEDDING. Willis — Birtles Miss Ruby Birtles, late of the A.A.M.W.S., was married at St. John's Church of England, Ashfield, on March 2, to Mr. J. C. Willis (late A.I.F.). The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Birtles, of "Lone Pine," Meroo, Mudgee. She wore a charming old world frock with a beautiful veil of Brussels lace, and carried a shower spray of frangipanni, tuberose and white roses. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Marjorie Birtles, who wore a royal blue frock and sequin beanie. Her spray was of red roses. The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Willis, of Walker Avenue, Haberfield, and his brother, L.A.C. K. Willis, R.A.A.F., who recently returned from Borneo, carried out the duties of best man. The bride was given away by her father and, after the ceremony, a reception was held at Haberfield. Katoomba was selected for their honeymoon.
