Biography

Henry Burbidge Bishop was born 12 Jan 1805 to George Bishop and Jane Burbidge.

He first married Margaret Robertson.

He married secondly Sarah Campbell. The 14 Oct 1854 edition of the Presbyterian Witness reported: "Henry Bishop (of Whycocomah, C.B.) m. 25 Sep, Sarah, youngest d/o late Donald Campbell of Whycocomah by Rev. Hugh McLeod"[1] She died in 1856. The 16 Feb 1856 edition of the Presbyterian Witness reported: "Henry Bishop[2]

In 1861, Henry B. was residing in Whycocomagh, Victoria Co., Nova Scotia with a family consisting of 8 males and 6 females, 1 female under 1 [Agnes Ann, his granddaughter], 1 female 2-3 [Margaret Jane, his granddaughter], 1 male 5-10 [?], 1 female 5-10 [?], 2 single males 15-20 [Albert, ?], 1 single female 15-20 [Esther], 1 married male 20-30 [George], 2 single males 20-30 [William, ?], 2 married females 20-30 [Sutia, ?], 1 widower, 50-60 [himself] and 1 widower, 80-90 [a sibling?].

In 1871, Henry, blacksmith, widower, 66, William, carriage maker, 32, Albert, carriage maker, 29 were residing in Whycocomagh,Victoria Co., Nova Scotia. George Bishop, blacksmith, 36 and Sutia, 33 and their seven children were residing next door.

In 1881, Henry, blacksmith, widower, 76, Sutia, widow, 41 and her eleven children were residing in Whycocomagh,Victoria Co., Nova Scotia. Sutia Bishop, widow, married Ephraim Swain in 1887. Sutia B. Swain, died 1933 in Whycocomagh, Inverness County

Henry died Sept. of 1885 in Kings Co., Nova Scotia.

  1. George Malcolm, b. 1834 in Horton, Kings Co., m. Jessie Sutia Smith, d. 1897.
  2. Esther, b. 1836, m. 19 Jun 1869 in Boston, Dr. John McIntosh, d. 20 Aug 1872.
  3. William, b. 1839.
  4. Albert, b. 1842, d. 29 Apr 1874, Whycocomah.
