Caution: Daniel’s birthdate is a rough estimate based on Tithable and Census Records. No documentation indicating where he was born has been found so far. He is found in the 1768 Loudoun County, Virginia Tax records next to a John Simonious. There are some existing trees that say Daniel’s wife was a Christinia Simonis but documentation is lacking at this point. The death record of his daughter Margaret "Mary F" lists her parents as D & C Black, so the C does partially confirm Christinia.
Daniel is found in the 1780s in Loudoun County Tax records. He is also found in Court Documents involving money owed Martin Poling as Administrator of Samuel Poling, deceased in 1782.
On 12 December 1791, in Loudoun County, Virginia, a Bill of Sale was recorded from Daniel & Samuel Black to Daniel Fisher, Charles McBride, Jeremiah McGahey and Robert Jenkins.
On 3 September 1795, Daniel was a witness to the assignment of rights and title of three lots from Briant Gainer to Peter D Evecman.
On 16 March 1798, a bill of Sale was made when Daniel Black Sr. sold one dark bay mare to Peter Devecmon. Witness was Matthew Lodge.
On 9 April 1798 in Allegany County, Maryland, there was another Bill of Sale. Daniel Black, Senior, sold numerous items to Benjamin Black. If Benjamin was repaid by 1 April 1802, the Deed would be void. Witnesses to this deed were Henry Bobo and John Black.
On 15 April 1798 in Allegany County, a suit by Martin Poland was filed against Daniel Black and John Simonius. A Samuel Poland had passed in 1782 in Loudoun County, Virginia, with Daniel Black Sen. and John Simonius owing Samuel’s Estate. On 27 January 1787, in Loudoun County, Virginia, Daniel and John wrote an obligatory for the amount owed to Martin Poland, Adm. of Samuel Poland, dec’d. After repeated requests for payment, Martin filed suit in Allegany County. A Fifa was granted against their property.
The 1800 Census Records for Allegany County, Maryland lists only these three households with surname Black.
The only Henry Bobo found in 1800 is in Middletown, Washington, Territory Northwest of the Ohio River. A William Poland in 1800 is found in Newtown, Washington, Territory Northwest of the Ohio River. Newtown was close to present Muskingum County, Ohio.
Daniel Black, per a Court Docket, had passed before 18 Jun 1801 when he was scheduled as Plaintiff against Defendant Bryan Gainer.
In the 1800 Census, next to Daniel Black, are George Gainor, Brian Gainor and Nicholas Sturm(wife Margaret Gainer). The mother of these Gainers is supposedly Mary Black, but documentation is needed. Mary's age could make her Daniel's sister. The wife of this Brian Gainor is Nancy with last name supposedly Black but documentation is again needed. Her age could make her a daughter of Daniel Black Sr.
