David was a son of Peter and Elizabeth Blackmer, born in Greenwich, Massachusetts, in 1788.
His father's will, written in March 1819, named sons David and Jason each to receive half of his real estate.[1]
David Blackmer married Sarah and they resided in Greenwich. The 1855 Massachusetts State Census listed David Blackmer, age 67, farmer; Sarah Blackmer, age 63; and Lucius Blackmer, age 35, silver plater, as residents of Greenwich.[2]
David Blackmer of Greenwich married for a second time at age 72 on 8 November 1860, to 56-year-old Philena Sears Lyons, also of Greenwich, as her second husband. According to the marriage record, he was a son of Peter and Elizabeth Blackmer, born in Greenwich, and a farmer. Philena was born in New Salem. The record indicates that Sears was her maiden name, but it names her parents as Eleazer and Dorcas Lyons. The marriage officiant was E. P. Blodgett, pastor of the Greenwich Congregational Church.[3]
David Blackmer of Greenwich died on 4 September 1873 at age 85 years and 18 days. He was a farmer and a widower.[4] He died intestate. Lucius R. Blackmer, a son, petitioned for administration of the estate on 5 October 1874, identifying himself as the only relation of the deceased.[5]
