He died on 24 Nov 1861 in Downers Grove. He is buried the Main Street Cemetery in downtown Downers Grove just a few blocks from his home on Maple Avenue in Downers Grove.[5]
Israel's second home, built in 1846, is now on the grounds of Wandschnieder Park in DOwners Grove. The home was acquired by the Downers Grove Park District and now serves as the Downers Grove Museum.[2]
