Jacob Henry Bogart was born to Andrew Bogaert in about 1834 in New York, United States
On the 17th day of August 1850 Rachel (Weeks) Bogart and family are enumerated in the United States Federal Census living in Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York. In this household her son, Henry Bogart age 16 is listed as a farmer. In the 1860 United States Federal Census enumerated on the 21st of July 1860 Rachel (Weeks) Bogart is living in Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York. In her household are listed her son, Henry age 28, Jane Bogart 27, her son, Robert Weeks Bogart age 24, a Lyman Reed age 10, and her mother-in-law, Mary Bogart age 84. In March of 1866 Dr. Henry J. Bogart married Sarah (Kingen) Shipman in Hancock County, Indiana. [1]
In the 1870 United States Federal Census enumerated on the 17th Day of August Henry J. Bogart age 38, Physician, is residing in Charlottesville, Jackson Township, Hancock County, Indiana. Also living in is household are Sarah Bogart 33, Clara Shipman 10, and Henry Jacob Bogart's nephew, Floyd M. Dunning age 15. [2]

Dr. H. J. Bogart, a Greenfield Pension Examining Surgeon GREENFIELD Ind., May 30,—Dr. H. J.Bogart, aged sixty-four, died at his home, In this city at 11 a. m. to-day, from hemorrhage of the stomach. He was taken ilI Saturday with internal hemorrhage. He leaves a widow and a stepdaughter, Mrs. George Winslow, who resides near Charlottsville. Dr. Bogart was in the Union army as a surgeon during the war, in a New York regiment. He came to Indiana after the war and has been at Carthage the greater part of the time. A few years ago he moved to Greenfield. He was a Mason and examining surgeon of the Pension Boards His funeral will be held at 10. a- m. Tuesday, at the M. E. Church, with the burial at Knightstown. Date: 1898-06-01; Paper: Indiana State Journal
