Biography

Mary was born in Perquimans, NC, the 12th child of Joseph Bogue and Mary Newby.

George Jones son of George and Lydia Jones, and Mary Bogue, daughter of Joseph and Mary Bogue (both deceased), were married April 6, 1820, Elk MM.[1]

Mary Bogue, married April 6, 1820, Elk MM., Preble Co., Ohio, to George Jones III, son of Geo. II and Lydia (Hobson) Jones, b. 4-30-1801 in Ga., d. 9-25-1832 in Cass Co., Mich. They were the parents of 6 children: Anna, Stephen, Nathan, Sarah, George IV, Charles II.[2]

"Mary Bogue Jones died at the home of her daughter after a brief illness, August 15, 1870. She was born in North Carolina, Feb. 20, 1787. In Nov., 1829, with her husband, moved to Young's Prairie, Cass Co., Michigan, where she spent the remaining portion of her life. In the autumn of 1832, her husband died, leaving her with six children to support and educate amongst the privations of a very new country. During the principal part of her life she was a devoted member of the Society of Friends, but, about the year 1853, she became convinced of the more perfect way of the Lord when she became a member of the Church of Christ when she spent the Autumn of her life preparing together the golden fruit of the better land." (Obituary by J. Hurd.)[3]
