Biography
It's believed that Peter was born about 1772 in Virginia and died about 1843 in North Carolina; however, 1830 and 1840 US Census also finds a Peter Boughman in Carter County, Tennessee. Often, the folks didn't move, but the lines did. This could have been the case for Peter and his family.
He married Catherine Helmantollar about 1795. The date is estimated based on Catherine's previous marriage to Christopher Manners, in which four children were born. Together Peter and Catherine had eight children. It's believed he passed away about 1843 although death certificate and burial location have not been located.
