Biography

Anne Bown was born 9 Mar 1750 and baptised 9 May 1750 in Somerton, Somerset, England. ^[1] Joseph Chaplin and Anne Bown married 2 Dec 1773 in Clifton, Goucestershire, England. ^{[2] [3]} Ann Bown, widow of [Bown-171|Robert Bown] who was this Ann's uncle, bequeathed to Ann (Mrs Joseph Chaplin of Clifton) the sum of 60 pounds. Ann's brother Samuel (1798) left his estate to his wife and son; but had they died a trust for regular payment to Ann "free from the intermeddling of her present or any future husband..." would have been set up. Ann died 8 Nov 1839 and was buried in St. Andrew, Clifton, Goucestershire, England. ^[4]

REVELATIONS

Martha Chaplin, the daughter of Anne who was married to William Corder, is not likely Anne and Joseph's daughter. Therefore I have chosen to treat her as an adoptee without supporting evidence.
