His parents were, Ozro Brackett, born Oct. 12, 1813 in Wheelock, Vermont, D: 1889. And his mother was Lucy Philena Stone-Brackett, born 1836 - 1916.

The family lived in Wisconsin for a time and the moved to Nebraska where most of the children were born. [1]

They moved to Franktown just in time for the Civil War because Ozro joined Company M 3rd Reg. Colorado.

After the war ended Edmund was the first to be born in Franktown, 1865. His mother was paid a pension Jany 7, 1892, in Colorado.

Colorado Transcript, July 11, 1877

"The Castle Rock News gives the particulars of the finding a few days ago of the body of a boy twelve years of age, with a bullet hole through his head and a cut on one side . . He and his brother had been sent out to herd sheep on Cherry Creek by their father, Mr. O. Brackett. The other boy came In and reported his brother lost. The coroner's jury were still considering the case at last accounts."
