William Bradley, of Franklin County, Virginia left a will written in December 1820 and proven in court 6 June 1825. The will names a wife, Polly; two sons, Philip and Jesse; daughters kelly Estes, Ann Divers, Sally Guthry and Polly Holland. The Ann Divers mentioned was the wife of Aquilla Divers, married in 1819.
The surname of William's wife, Polly or perhaps Mary, remains undetermined.
Franklin County, Virginia Will Book 3, pp. 62-63; I William Bradley of Franklin County, Va do hereby make my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, 1st I Desire that all the parishable [sic] part of my Estate be immediately Sold after my decease and out of the monies arising therefrom all of my just debts to be paid. 2nd After the payment of all my just debts &c I give to my wife Polly Bradley all of my estate both real and personal of every description for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease, I give the same to my children in manner and form herein after mentioned to be enjoyed by them their heirs forever. 3rd I give to my sons Philip Bradley and Jesse Bradley all my tract of land in the County aforesaid to be equally divided between them agreeable to quantity quality and Value. 4th I give all the remainder of my Estate as follows (viz) one fourth to Kelly Estes one fourth to Ann Divers and the remaining half Jesse Bradley and Philip Bradley whom I hereby constitute and appoint Trustees for the benefit of my two daughters Sally Guthry and Polly Holland and the female heirs of their bodies, which Estate so left in the hands of Jesse & Philip Bradley Trustees as aforesaid, as to be delt [sic] out by them to my two daughters and their heirs as aforesaid as their necessities may require for their particular support and maintenance. 5th And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons Philip Bradley and Jesse Bradley executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of December 1820. [Signed] William Bradley; Signed sealed and declared as and for the Last Will and Testament of the above named Wm. Bradley in presence of us James Leftwich, Jr., Alexander Edwards, Joseph Keith. At a Court held for Franklin County at the Courthouse the 6th day of June 1825, This last will and testament of William Bradley deceased was exhibited into court and proven by the oath of Joseph Keith one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. And on the motion of Jesse Bradley one of the Executors herein named, who took the oath prescribed by Law and gave and securely conditioned according to Law, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate in due form liberty being reserved to Philip Bradley the other executor herein named to join in the Probate when he should think fit. And at a Court held for the said County at the Court House the 5th day of December 1825, the said Will was further proved by the oath of James Leftwich, Jr. another of the subscribing hereto and ordered to be recorded.
