Biography

George was born on 2 April 1817 in Chalton, Bedfordshire, and christened in nearby Toddington on 11 June the same year. He was the son of Mark Breed and Ann Breed, née Billington^[1].

George married Ann Bourn in Luton in 1837^[2], and the couple had at least four children: Mary^[3][4], Emma^[6][7], James^[8][9], and Mark^[10].

In 1871 George and Ann seem to have been living in Hunmanby, Yorkshire, and working as labourers^[12] at the time of the census. They had returned to Bedfordshire by 1881^[13], when George was said to be a 'farmer of 4 acres'.

George probably died in the Luton district in 1888, aged 72^[14].
