George was born on 2 April 1817 in Chalton, Bedfordshire, and christened in nearby Toddington on 11 June the same year. He was the son of Mark Breed and Ann Breed, née Billington[1].
George married Ann Bourn in Luton in 1837[2], and the couple had at least four children: Mary[3][4], Emma[6][7], James[8][9], and Mark[10].
In 1871 George and Ann seem to have been living in Hunmanby, Yorkshire, and working as labourers[12] at the time of the census. They had returned to Bedfordshire by 1881[13], when George was said to be a 'farmer of 4 acres'.
George probably died in the Luton district in 1888, aged 72[14].
1881: High Street, Bidwell Hill, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire[13].
