Catherine was born about 1844 near Auckland. She was the eldest daughter of George Bregmen and Catherine Sheppard. [1]
She was well known as a Maori scholar and linguist. [1]
In 1881 she remarried to Thomas Teasdale, [2] a widower whose previous wife was also called Catherine.
She passed away 29 June 1921 at the residence of her daughter Mrs. T. Prosser. She was survived by her husband and six daughters: [1]
She is buried at O'Neill's Point. [3]
