Biography

John Kinketon Brewer was born in Wayne County, Tennessee, January 11, 1844. He moved to Jobe Township of Oregon County, Missouri, near the Arkansas border with some family members about 1853.

On September 10, 1868, he married Malinda Idora Castleberry in Randolph County, Arkansas, USA[1] In the US Census for 1870, John and Melinda were in Roanoke Township, Randolph County, Arkansas. They had a daughter who was 10 months old. Their post office was Pocahontas, Arkansas. John was farming.[2]

About 1873 John and Malinda moved from Randolph County, Arkansas to Oregon County, Missouri. In 1880 they were living in Jobe Township and John was farming. They had five children Elizabeth J. (born 1870-Arkansas), Mary C. (born 1871-Arkansas), Joseph W. (born 1872-Arkansas), Rebeca E. (born 1874- Missouri) and Oney C. (born 1878-Missouri). Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph were attending school.

In 1900 John was farming in Jobe Township and other family members had farms close by. John and Melinda have three more children--Wesley (born March 1883-Missouri), Thaly (born March 1886-Missouri) and Rufus (born January 1888-Missouri). Oney may have died; he is not with them. John's widowed mother Eliza was living with them. [3]

John died October 10, 1924 in Oregon County, Missouri, USA and was buried in the Myrtle Cemetery, Myrtle, Oregon County, Missouri.
