Correspondence
Mr. Editor:---The public examination of the "High School" took place yesterday P. M. and to-day. ... The hymn which follows was composed by Miss Lucy Little, and sung by the school at the close of the exercise. The third and the fourth stanza refer to the death of Mary A. Bridgham one of the pupils.
...
'Mid the fragrance which the flowers,
Yickled in their dying hours,
Fled a soul, too pure for earth,
To that Heaven which gave it birth.
Though dark sorrow filled each heart
From that gentle one to part---
Yet we hope to meet her there,
In thy home, more bright, more fair.
