Biography
Henry Brighton was born in Devon, England.
Henry 1806 "Henry son of George & Hannah Brighton born the 13 day of January 1806, baptized March ye 27 1808" at Bere Ferrers.[1][2]
Henry married Peggy Hutchings Tonkin on 5 April 1828 at Whitchurch, Devon.[3]
In 1841 Henry Brighton 35 was a nurseymsan living at Bere Ferrers with Peggy 40, Hannah 11, Mary 8 and Nelson 5. In 1851 at Cothele House was Henry Brighton 45 born at Bere Ferrers game keeper with wife Peggy 49 born at Whitchurch and daughter Mary 18 born at Bereferris.[4]
Peggy Hutchings Brighton of Goldstreet Cottage was buried 4 November 1867 aged 65 at Bere Ferrers. Henry married Charlotte Dobson in 1868 at Stoke Damerel district.
In 1871 Henry 65 was a forester living at Goldstreet Cottage with Charlotte 60. In 1881 Henry 75 born at Beerferrers was a forester living in Goldstreet Cottage with wife Charlotte 70 born at Whitchurch, and a servant.[5]
Charlotte of Goldstreet Cottage was buried on 6 March 1884 aged 74 at Bere Ferrers. "Deaths. Brighton. March 18th, at Lockeridge, Henry Brighton, aged 79." [Western Morning News, 21 March 1885] Henry of Goldstreet Cottage, Lockeridge was buried on 24 March 1885 aged 79 at Bere Ferrers.[6]
