Charles, son of George Brighton and Hannah, was baptized on 27 March 1808 in Bere Ferrers, Devon, England.[1]
Charles married Charlotte Ferris on 3 June 1831 in the parish of St. Andrew, Plymouth, Devon.[2] They had the following known children:

In 1861 Charles, age 53, was living in Pepper street, Bere Ferris with Charlotte (49), Joseph (20), and his brother Oakley (49).[5]

Charlotte died in February of 1870, and was buried in Liskeard, Cornwall.[6] In the 1871 census, the widowed Charles was lodging at the home of John Jewell in Liskeard, Cornwall.[7]
Charles had moved in with his daughter Sarah's family in "The Village" in Bridestowe, Devon, the 1881 census. There, he worked as a "woodsranger".[8]
Charles died in February 1885. He was buried with Charlotte on 15 February in Dobwalls Methodist Churchyard in Liskeard, Cornwall.[9][10][11]
