Levi's family moved to Indiana when he was a small boy. He married Mary Jane Peck in Cass County on November 5, 1857.[2]
Pte. Levi H Brown served with the Indiana 23rd Infantry, Company D, for the entirety of the Civil war. He enlisted July 29, 1861, and was mustered out July 23, 1865.[3][4]
Levi died September 6, 1897 at his residence, 217 Eel River Avenue, Logansport and was buried in the Mt Hope Cemetery.[5] Mary remarried in 1901 to Samuel Snell and resided at Eel River Avenue until her death in 1914.[6][7]
