Anna Brubaker was born in February 25, 1795 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Christian Hartman and mother of Anna, Henry, Christian, Jacob, Henrietta, and Samuel.

In 1850 she was a 55-year-old widow living with her daughter Ann Stauffer, 35, son-in-law John Stauffer, 34, and grandsons Jacob Stauffer, 12, John Stauffer, 9, and John S. Hartman, 3. Her son Henry Hartman, 33, and his family lived next door.

She was also residing with her daughter's family in 1860, now in Millersville within the same township. Her grandson Jacob was then 23 and found work as a school teacher.

Anna passed away at age 66 on April 16, 1861 and was buried in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery in Millersville, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
