Biography

Gertrude was born in 1908. She was the daughter of Henry Brunhoeber and Amelia Kuechler.^[1][2] Gertrude worked as a stenographer for Merchant Life in Wichita.^[3] Not a surprising occupation based on her school achievement lauded in the local newspaper in 1921: "Central Gets Student Award - Gertrude Brunhoeber of Central received the highest student award given by the A. N. Palmer Company, on her exercies[sic] written in 9-B penmanship last semester."

Gertrude and Virgil met about Oct/Nov 1923, when Gertrude was 15 and Virgil 27, at the Calvery Methodist Church, Wichita, Kansas. They dated almost five years before Gertrude would agree to marry Virgil. Gertrude was the last of the children to marry. She married divorcee Virgil Meador on 1 September 1933 in Wichita. They had no children, although Virgil had a daughter from his previous marriage. Gertrude passed away in 1995. ^[4][5]
