His World War I Draft Registration Card[3] shows his birth date as 1 May 1880. His nearest relative is E. E. Buckingham.
The 1920 Census[4] shows him at age 39 in the home of his parents in Winfield, Putnam County, West Virginia. He is working as a fireman on a steamboat.
He married Hattie Gifford on 19 Sep 1923 in West Virginia.[5][6]
The 1940 Census[7] shows him at age "36" as a widowed lodger in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. He works as a laborer in the building industry.
His World War II Draft Registration Card[8] gives his birth date as 30 May 1880. The "person who will always know your address" is Alta Buren (sp) at 208 Bradford St., Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia, which is also his address.
He died in 1955 in West Virginia,[9][10] and is buried at the Winfield Cemetery, Winfield, Putnam County, West Virginia.[11]
