Biography

John Bunch was born 1814/1815 in South Carolina to unknown parents, Family oral history is that he was married to Phoebe Massie, or Massey.

From Maude Bunch Green biography, she says her grandfather Bunch died during the Civil War (pg1, 4th&5th paragraph) but was not in battle. Died of Typhoid Fever.

Based on Georgia military records John Bunch may have had a brother named George Washington Bunch, ^{[1] [2]} a year younger who also lived in Gordon County, Georgia and also served in the Civil War.

John Bunch and (Nancy) ? Phoebe Bunch married in South Carolina about 1836/37. Their first child Elizabeth was born in South Carolina about 1838. They had at least 11 children. **Could this Nancy be pointing to a different family??**

Based on US census records, John Bunch moved his family from South Carolina to North Carolina sometime between 1838 and 1840, then to Tennessee between 1845 and 1847, The John Bunch family did not stay in Tennessee long moving to Ryo, Gordon, Georgia around 1847/48. John Bunch died in 1864 from Typhoid Fever, ^[3]

Son Hiram K Bunch enlisted in the Confederate Army 1862 8th Infantry (State Guards) AND 8th Battalion, Infantry Georgia. He fought in the Battle of Chickamauga. Catoosa County, Georgia, Begin Date: September 18, 1863 Union Casualties: 16,170, Confederate Casualties: 18,454, : Confederate Victory^[4]
