Caroline was born about 1845 in Ohio.[1] She was the daughter of Thadeus Burdge and Mary Elizabeth Hill.[1] Carrie was a dressmaker in her later years, living with her mother and sisters at 57 McFarland Street in Cincinnati.[2][3] Sometime between 1910 and 1915, Carrie moved to 3411 Pleasant View Ave. in Cincinnati.[4] Carrie died single from a strangulated hernia and toxemia on April 26, 1915, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.[4] She is buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.[4][5]

Carrie's age was fuzzy. In the 1850 census, she was 5 years old.[1] In the 1860 census, Caroline was 14.[6] In the 1870 census, she was 24 (born in 1846).[2] By 1880, she was only 30 (born in 1850).[3] In 1900, she was born in October 1856.[7] In 1910, she was born in 1860.[8] On her death certificate that Benjamin Piper (one of the boarders) signed, she was born about 1850 and then the registrar wrote that she was 57, even though she died in 1915.[4]
