James was a son of James Crenshaw Caldwell and Sarah Louisa Stone. He married Lois Hazeltine Dalton in 1917.[1] James passed away in 1949.

A.T. Caldwell Dies - Allen T. Caldwell, former Car House foreman in the Transportation Department, died in Washington, D.C., on May 5. He was first employed by the Company in 1907, left for a few months in 1910 and returned for continuous employment in November of that year. He was made Car House foreman in 1917 and remained in that capacity until March 1, 1946, when ill health caused him to retire. Mr. Caldwell was a Shriner and a member of the West End Baptist Church. Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Walter Drury of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Robert A. Caldwell of Washington, D.C.; and James D. Caldwell of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. O.D. Fruitticher and Miss Maude Caldwell of Birmingham; four brothers, E.C. and O.C. Caldwell of Birmingham, J.B. Caldwell of Fairfield, and Ralph W. Caldwell of Phoenix, Arizona. O.C. Caldwell, brother of the deceased, is a long time employe of BECO in the Mechanical Division of the Transportation Department. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery with the following BECO employes as active pallbearers: S.G. Smith, J.C. Edwards, J.H. Green, D.E. Williams, E.G. Sisson, and F.E. Lollar.[2]
