Biography

George was born about 1700. He passed away in 1749. [1]

First, let me clear up one of your statements about William Campbell adm. estate of George Campbell (d. 1749 in Caroline). No, a William was not named as executor of his estate. George's will was probated 10 Nov., 1749 naming James Campbell and Elizabeth, the widow, as executors. Elizabeth relinquished her right and an "heir-at-law" (not named) contested the probate, but the will was proved by William Deshazo, Morris Campbell, and Elinor Deshazo (wife of William Deshazo) per Caroline County court orders. Was the "heir-at-law" William or George (b. 1720)??? Caroline Order Bk, p. 179 STC 2016

George Campbell, Sr. born about 1700 died 1749, will was proved 11-10-1749. His wife Elizabeth was executor, along with James Campbell. Their sons were: George Campbell Jr (m. Caty) they moved to Piney River, Amherst Co VA William Campbell (m. Elizabeth) he died in Amherst Co VA, November 1785. James Campbell

Would appreciate hearing from Chris Campbell, Kit #B138381. YDNA is on sale and he could upgrade to Big-Y and better identify his line.

Honestly, his Y-DNA is SO different from everyone else in this line that we do have kits for...it's an easy call to say he is not genetically related to this line. However, that does not necessarily mean his genealogy has nothing to do with the line... Kit 22678 is a descendant of this line and has upgraded to BigY700. And he fall right in line with the other 49 kits....lol The haplogroup is R-FT102020. It currently has one child branch called FT101768, but there's potential, as of this writing, for at least two more branches. Any private variants are unknown to me at this time as well...which would all be further potential branches as well. And that is all just to figure out exactly how all this families are related to one another... So far there's no one in Scotland to point to...might be one on the way, can't really say until the results come in, probably within around 8 weeks from now.

On the paper side of things Shirley is as good it gets for these families. And from what I've seen of Sam's tree its rock solid... Somewhat oddly, Chris and Sam trace to the same ancestor at one point, but it's clear Sam's is the one genetically related. So what's needed is to try to figure out how Chris' line became associated with that common ancestor...was it just a genealogy mistake, or was there something more...an adoption, or NPE? Hopefully we can come up with an answer to that question. It would also be nice to someday be able to tell Chris where his DNA actually came from... That's actually a Project wide goal at FTDNA :) It's just the nature of clans and surnames in general.
