William Junior Cantwell was born on May 15, 1919 in Miami, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma, United States, son of William Hezekiah Cantwell (1896–1982) and Nellie Wiles (1900–1997).

In the 1920 census William (age 7 months) was the son of William H Cantwell in Ottawa, Oklahoma, United States.^[1]

William married Julia Maxine Richardson (born on April 5, 1925 in Oklahoma; daughter of McKinley Richardson and Sallie Louise (Wyrick) Brady).

William died on April 12, 1998 in Roseburg, Douglas Co., Oregon, United States, aged 78.^[2]

CANTWELL, William J. - Age 78 of Roseburg passed away Sunday, April 12, 1998 in a local hospital. He was born May 15, 1919 in Miami, Oklahoma to William H. and Nellie (Wiles) Cantwell. Mr. Cantwell served in the US Army, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division in WW II. On August 27, 1945, in Columbus, Kansas, William married Julia M. Richardson, who preceded him in death on July 21, 1994. He worked in the lumber industry as a dry belt puller. He enjoyed playing music, working on radios and t.v.'s, camping, fishing and hunting. William is survived by his son William S. Cantwell of Roseburg; brother Charles Cantwell of Roseburg; sisters Wanda Hurt, Springfield, Oregon; Joyce Wooten, Portland, Oregon; Betty Brown, Battle Ground, Washington; Evadean Matile, Gladstone, Oregon and a grandson, William T. Cantwell of Roseburg. Mr. Cantwell was preceded in death by both of his parents and a brother, Richard Cantwell. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, April 15, 1998 at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Pastor Clint Caviness of the Victory Baptist Church will officiate. Private Cremation rites have been held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 15 W 16th Street, New York, New York 10011. LONG & SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
