Robert Lee Carney was born on December 10, 1900, in Swansboro, North Carolina as the son of Robert James Carney[1] and Fannie Jane Odum. In 1910, he lived in Swansboro, North Carolina with his parents and siblings.[2] In 1920, the 18 year old Robert is single and still residing in Swansboro with his parents and his brother Albert.[3] In White Oak Township, Robert married Mamie Phillips, the daughter of MP and Bettie Phillips on July 4, 1927.[4] Through Mamie, Robert became the father of Lula Elizabeth Carney a year after they got married.[5] In 1940, Robert was shown residing with his wife and daughter in yet again Swansboro.[6] After having been a carpenter, living on Hwy 24, Box 312 in Swansboro, Robert died at the age of 72 in the town he lived in on November 21, 1973. He leaves behind his wife Mamie and was buried two days later on the 23rd in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Swansboro.[7][8]
