In the front house lived Wells Chase, 79, born in New York, a widower, first marriage: 56 years; his two daughters, Jane Cooper, 55, a widow, who had had one child, now deceased; and Charlotte Wood, 44, who had had three children, two of whom were living; her husband of 14 years, Allan F. Wood, 40, b. MA, a butcher; their children, both in school: Charles L. Wood, 11; and Burn N. Wood, 9, b. Colorado; and a grandson of Wells Chase, Wells Cunningham, 14, in school.
In the rear house lived Ezra Chase, 42, a house carpenter; his wife of 19 years, Louisa, 39, b. MI, who had had ten children, eight of whom were living; and their eight children, aged 4 months to 17 years. All in school except for the youngest three. The baby, 4 months of age, was an unnamed daughter. The oldest, Frank, 17, was a house carpenter, and he was in school.[6]
