Wells married Jane McGary and Harriet Barker, plural wives.

In 1860, the Chase family lived in Ogden City, Utah Territory. The household included Wells E. Chase, 30, born in New York, a farmer with $500 in real estate and $2100 in personal estate; his two wives, Jane, 25, born in Canada West, and Harriet Chase, 24, b. NY; and the Chase children, all b. Utah, Jane D., 5; Wells C., 4; William H., 2; and Ellen F., an infant. Also living with them were Elleaner Moss, 42, b. New Brunswick; Charlotte Moss, 12, b. Missouri; and Levi A. Green, 20, b. Pennsylvania, a servant. ^[1]

In 1870, the Chase family lived in Ogden, Utah Territory. The household included E. Wells Chase, 40, born in New York, a farmer with $2000 in real estate and $1800 in personal estate; his wife Jane, 35, b. Canada; and their ten children, all b. Utah: Jane, 15; Wells (Charles), 14; William, 12; Frances, 10; Ernest, 9; Inez, 7; Jersey (Tirzah), 5; Charlotte, 4; Ezra, 2; and Clara, 7 months, b. Nov 1869. ^[2]

In 1880, the Chase family lived in Ogden, Utah Territory. The household included Wells Chase, 50, a farmer, born in New York, whose parents were born in Massachusetts; his wife Jane, 44, b. Canada, as was her father, and her mother was b. Nova Scotia; their eleven children, all b. Utah: Jane D., 25; William H., 22; Ellen H., 20; Ernest M., 18; Inez, 17; Turzah, 15; Charlotta, 14; Ezra, 13; Clara, 10; James, 8; and Ida M., 5; Wells’ aunt, Ellener Morse, 62, a widow, b. Nova Scotia, as were her parents; and a boarder, John Allen, 22, b. PA. Living nearby was Charles W. Chase, a son of Wells and Jane Chase. This household included Charles W. Chase, 24, b. Utah, a Railroad laborer; his wife Amanda, 22, b. Utah, whose father was b. KY, and her mother was b. Ohio; and their son Adlebert, 8 months, b. Utah. ^[3]

In 1900, the Chase family lived on their farm at 1509 Washington Ave., Ogden, Utah. All members of the household were born in Utah, except as noted. All could read and write, except for the youngest child. The household included

• Jane, his wife of 47 years, 65, b. June 1835 in Canada (parents b. Canada), who immigrated in 1839, and who had had 16 children, 12 of whom were living
• Genevive, daughter, 17, b. July 1883, in school
• Jane Cooper, daughter, 46, b. Dec. 1854, a widow, who had had one child
• her son, Reginald Cooper, 16, b. Sept. 1884 (father b. MA), in school

And, three other grandchildren of Ezra and Jane Chase, all in school. Their father was b. VT; and their mother was b. UT:

• Pauline Cunningham, 14, b. Aug. 1886
• Edna Cunningham, 11, b. Sept. 1889

Living nearby was Wells and Jane’s son, William and his wife and two daughters. ^[5]

In 1910, the Chase family lived at 1509 Washington Ave., Ogden, Utah. There were two houses on the property, which was owned without a mortgage. All members of the both households were born in Utah, except as noted. In the front house lived Wells Chase, 79, born in New York, a widower, first marriage: 56 years; his two daughters, Jane Cooper, 55, a widow, who had had one child, now deceased; and Charlotte Wood, 44, who had had three children, two of whom were living; her husband of 14 years, Allan F. Wood, 40, b. MA, a butcher; their children, both in school: Charles L. Wood, 11; and Burn N. Wood, 9, b. Colorado; and a grandson of Wells Chase, Wells Cunningham, 14, in school.

In the rear house lived Ezra Chase, 42, a house carpenter; his wife of 19 years, Louisa, 39, b. MI, who had had ten children, eight of whom were living; and their eight children, aged 4 months to 17 years. All in school except for the youngest three. The baby, 4 months of age, was an unnamed daughter. The oldest, Frank, 17, was a house carpenter, and he was in school.^[6]

Elisha and his wife Jane are buried in Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Utah. ^[7]
