Biography

William Elmer Cherry was born on July 4, 1880. He was the son of John Cherry and Rachel McCauley. He is found in the 1900 census with his parents at age 19 in Antis Township, Blair County, Pennsylvania. On November 11, 1905, he married Edith Mabel Fogel in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The family continued to live in Blair County, Pennsylvania. He died in Aug 1969 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania and is buried in Charlottesville Cemetery in Tipton, Blair County, Pennsylvania.

WILLIAM E. CHERRY - Formerly of Tipton, died at 10;55 a.m. Saturday,Aug. 30, 1969, in Valley View Home after a brief illness. He was born in Antis Twp. on July 4, 1880, a son of John and Rachel (McCaulley) Cherry, and married Edith Fogle, who died in 1945. Surviving are five children, Mrs. Thelma Roorback of Beaver, Mrs. Erma Bell of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Madeline Lloyd of Sinking Valley and Dean and Daleof Indiana;...a brother and sister,George B. and Mrs. Rachel Johnson of Tipton. Mr. Cherry was a member of the Tipton Baptis Church. He was a retired farmer.... Johnson Funeral Home, Bellwood.
