Biography

George Darwin Clark was born on 2 Mar 1873 in Eastford, Windham, Connecticut, USA. For most of his life, George was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office. As a young man he worked as a bookkeeper at his father-in-law's company,[1] and at the end of his working career he became a V.P. of a bank in Putnam. He was married once, and he and his wife had one child, Herbert Clark. George passed away in 1941 in Putnam, Windham, Connecticut, USA.

George was the second child of Darwin Tuttle Clark and Mary Jane Bradway, and was born on March 2, 1873 . He married Elsie Lucy Morse on October 21, 1897 in Putnam, Connecticut, USA, and had one child, Herbert George Clark. George passed away on 26 Nov 1941 in Putnam, Connecticut, USA.

George is buried in Grove Street Cemetery Putnam, Windham Connecticut, USA.

  • 1910 - Federal census indicates that George and Elsie continued to live at 89 Walnut St. in Putnam, CT, along with their son, Herbert. The Census now identifies George as a mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office. He remains a mail carrier for most of his career. [7]
  • 1918 - World War I draft registration indicates that he still resides at 89 Walnut St. [8]
  • 1920 - Federal census indicates that George and Elsie continued to live at 89 Walnut St. in Putnam, CT, along with their son, Herbert. [9]
  • 1929 - Still living at 89 Walnut St. in Putnam, CT. [10]
  • 1930 - Federal census indicates that George and Elsie still reside at 89 Walnut St. [11]
  • 1931 and 1936 - Still living at 89 Walnut St. In the 1931 Putnam City Directory, George is identified as a letter carrier. In 1936 his is identified as being a V.P. at the Putnam Savings Bank. [12][13]
  • 1940 - Federal census records indicate that George and Elsie still lived at 89 Walnut St. George is listed as retired. [14]
  • 1941 - George passes away in Putnam on 26 Nov 1941. He is buried in the Grove Street cemetery. [15]
