The connections of Charles to wives Samantha and Georgia, and to daughter Florence may be incorrect. Sources cited show that he married Flora Dupree in 1898 and remained married to her until he died. His Alabama death certificate ties him to parents Jesse Clayton and Sarah Chambers and spouse Flora, supporting the claim that these sources belong to the right person. I found no sources showing the other two marriages or a daughter named Florence.

F=As far as anyone knew, Georgia Jourdan's married named was Jones. Despite years of research, no Jones connection was ever found. However, DNA revealed that the in the names Clayton and Pettit were ancestors the Jourdan line and were relatively close. Charles F Clayton was added to the tree and a whole slew of Clayton Cousins appeared.
