Margaret Clendenin (Clendinning)[1] was born on 12 April 1801 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Irish immigrants Alexander Clendenin (1762-1845) and Margaret Clendenin (1756-1840).
She married John George Leyde on 11 March 1823 in New Bedford, Lawrence, Pennsylvania.[1] They had eight children.[1]

They lived in Newport, Washington County, Minnesota, in 1870.[4]
John G and Margaret Leyde were both living with the family of their daughter Elizabeth Mary Silvis in Washington County, Minnesota, in the 1875 Minnesota State Census.[5]
Margaret passed away on 22 February 1880 [1] in Saint Paul, Dakota County, Minnesota.
