Biography

Margaret Clendenin (Clendinning)[1] was born on 12 April 1801 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Irish immigrants Alexander Clendenin (1762-1845) and Margaret Clendenin (1756-1840).

She married John George Leyde on 11 March 1823 in New Bedford, Lawrence, Pennsylvania.[1] They had eight children.[1]

  • Alexander C LEYDE (10 Sep 1828 - c. 1892)

  • Elizabeth Mary LEYDE Silvis (14 Jun 1833 - 2 Feb 1914)
  • Margaret LEYDE Price (25 Jan 1835 - bef. 1865)
  • Jane LEYDE Shoaff (23 Aug 1838 - unk)
  • John Glen LEYDE (11 Sep 1843 - 9 Aug 1928)

They lived in Pulaski Township, Lawrence, Pennsylvania, in 1850.[2]

They lived in New Bedford Borough, Lawrence, Pennsylvania in 1860.[3]

They lived in Newport, Washington County, Minnesota, in 1870.[4]

John G and Margaret Leyde were both living with the family of their daughter Elizabeth Mary Silvis in Washington County, Minnesota, in the 1875 Minnesota State Census.[5]

Margaret passed away on 22 February 1880 [1] in Saint Paul, Dakota County, Minnesota.
