Although she had suffered with bladder cancer and various infections, it was a cerebral thrombosis [5] that caused her death at age 95 on July 15, 1986 in Gastonia, Gaston County, North Carolina, USA. Two days later [6] her body was interred at Gaston Memorial Park.[7]

"MARRIED AT LENOIR",
"LENOIR, Nov. 20,-Yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Presbyterlan manse Mr. M. T. Morris, of Whitney, and Miss Erin Cline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Cline, who reside two miles north of Lenoir were quietly married by Rev. Charles T. Squires, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. It was not generally known by the friends of Miss Cline who is a charming young woman. that she was to be married, as she had sald very little to any one about her matrimonial Intentions. Some weeks ago she came home on a visit to her father and mother and in a qulet way began to prepare for the coming nuptial event in such a manner as to not even arouse the curtosity of some of her most intimate friends. For some time Mies Cline held a position as stenographer with the Southern Aluminum Company, in Whitney, and it was during her stay at that place she met her husband..."
