Loyd Cole was born on May 4, 1814 in North Carolina

He married Elizabeth Driver in Wake Co., NC on December 9, 1836. Their first daughter was born there in 1839. On the 1850 and 1860 Census's, they were in Forsyth Co., GA.

During the Civil War, their two oldest sons, George and William,and two sons-in-law, William J Thrasher and William J Toney served in the Confederate States Army. William J Toney died at Manassas in 1862.

In 1870's Loyd, Elizabeth and their two youngest children, and several of their other children and their families moved to Rusk Co., TX, but their two oldest sons never left Georgia.

They had also buried three of their children in Georgia: Adaline, Caswell and Marcus, all under the age of five.

His wife Elizabeth died in 1893, in Rusk Co., TX.

On the 1900 Census, Rusk Co, TX he was living with his daughter Arena Cotton and her husband.

He died in March 1901 in Rusk Co., TX and is buried at Crims Chapel Cemetery.
