Biography

The daughter of Lewis Coller and Martha (Parker) Coller, Melinda Coller was born in Hopewell Township, New York around 1815.^{[citation needed]} She married Jacob Dunkle (1812-), the son of John Henry Dunkle, having nine known children together:

4. George W. Dunkle (1842-)
5. Evelene H. Dunkle (1847-)
6. Ernest A. Dunkle (1850-1911)
7. Estella (Dunkle) Reynolds (1852-)
8. John Parker Dunkle (1856-1920)
9. Henrietta Dunkle (1857-)

Their first three children were born in Hopewell, New York but by 1850, they lived and farmed in Grainger Township, Ohio, in Medina County, where their next three children were born.^[1] By 1855, they had returned to New York, residing in Phelps Township, in Ontario County.^[2][3][4] By 1870, the couple did not lived together--Melinda lived in Seneca Township with her children, Estella, Ernest, and John.^[5] Jacob Dunkle lived in Geneva Township, residing with his son, Lewis, and working as a miller. By 1880, Melinda and several of her children had moved to Chicago, where Estella worked as a dressmaker.^[6]

Melinda Dunkle passed away in Chicago at the age of 70^[7] and is buried at Rosehill Cemetery and Mausoleum there.^[8]
