Roger de Condé was born about 1130 in Condé sur l'Escaut to Wedric de Condé . He was the Seigneur de Condé-sur-l'Escaut, in the Comté de Hainaut, "Wallonia," part of the Holy Roman Empire ("Saint Empire romain") in the Middle Ages. [1] Today Condé is a town near Valenciennes in the French departement du Nord, Hauts de France. [2]
