Notes
Speculation abounds about James "Fones" Corbin.
What is known:
a) he and a sibling were living in Virginia, their parents - the Fones - were killed in an Indian raid (unknown how the children escaped),
b) they were found/rescued by Rawley Corbin - no relation - who adopted (at least) James.
c) DNA has shown James and his descendants are not related by blood to the descendants of Rawley Corbin.
Note1: No one seems to know what happened to the other (alleged) sibling.
Note 2: Many of the pictures of James seen on various sites are incorrect. They've confused James with my gr-gr-grandfather, Hiram Sims. Contact me at davidloy1000 at gmail.com and I can explain. D.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
Corbin-3408 and Corbin-2106 are not ready to be merged because: I'm not convinced. Birthdates and death locations are quite different and no corroborating information is in evidence. Would need to see spouse / offspring information and/or other details before proceeding.
Corbin-3408 and Corbin-2106 appear to represent the same person because: Seem to be the same person, although several other sites show birth year as 1793.
Corbin-3408 and Corbin-2106 are not ready to be merged because: Birthdate differences; death location difference; would need corroboration and identification of sources; parents; and offspring.
Corbin-3408 and Corbin-2106 do not represent the same person because: 10 year discrepancy in DOB; different place of death; no corroborating information in bio.
The EXACT difference of 10 years in the birth date is almost certainly a transcription error in one digit. The probability that two separate and distinct people have the same name and the middle name of "Fones" and the same exact birth and death dates is vanishingly small, that is, essentially zero. These two profiles were obviously intended to be the same person even though one of the death places (and possibly both) is wrong. Since Corbin-3408 is unlinked, there is no possibility of creating a false relationship between people.
You might be correct; however, it would be nice to have some additional information. The complete lack of information in the later profile leaves us with only one commonality and it is the one based on what might or might not be a transcription error. I'd like to see some work on the later profile that would help me think on the merge with a clear frame of reference.
You are absolutely right that more research needs to be done, and hopefully someone will do it. But that could be years or decades away. In the meantime . . . Since Corbin-3408 is unlinked, no false relationship can be created by a merge. If more research reveals that there really are two separate people, the other one can be recreated.
Hi Neal, I understand the argument. I've sent the fellow who put up this profile a note to see if there is anything that he has that could be helpful. We'll see where we get with that. If that helps, great. If not, I'll put the merge through following your strategy. Amities, Roger
Corbin-3408 and Corbin-2106 appear to represent the same person because: strong similarities in profiles. unable to reach David Loy to obtain any additional information. Let's see where this gets us.
