Muster Roll at Gulliver's Hole, St. Mary's Bay and Sissiboo - conducted between June 1st and June 6th, 1784:
This list was compiled from a variety of printed lists. Once again there are variations in spellings of names. I have used the one I found used most frequently on the 4 lists consulted. In addition to the information given here, the following was on some of the lists, Number of Men, Women, Children under 10, Children over 10 and Servants. Under the description section the abbreviation DS means Discharged Soldier and DO means Discharged Officer. Under "Located at" I have no idea why there are a couple of entries with an occupation listed except perhaps as an indication that these people were transients who travelled from place to place in search of employment.
Gullivers Hole was in present day Digby Neck, Sissiboo was present day Weymouth and surrounding area and St. Mary's Bay would have included Gilvert's Cove, Plympton, Barton and Brighton.
The Muster Roll was used to determine the needs of the Colony so that proper amounts of provisions could be petitioned for in England.

Gerry Taylor writes:
First Generation Loyalist, John, also appears in Isaiah Wilson's book, "A Geography and History of the County of Digby, Nova Scotia."
In the Botsford Grant of 1784, John received 200 acres of land in Digby Township which was later escheated in 1800. However, when land was redistributed in 1801 under the Hatfield Grant, John received 700 acres. Both of the Cosman grants at this time were larger than average and perhaps reflected their service in the war and to the community.
A Muster of Civilians at Weymouth in 1784 included John Cosman as well as his future brother-in-law, Benjamin McConnell. An active Militia was maintained in the colonies because of frequent wars in Europe between France and England as well as the threat of American invasion. One such war between France and England occurred from 1793 to 1815 and required the building of Block Houses at the entrance to Annapolis Basin. Many French Privateers cruised in the Bay of Fundy during this conflict creating tension for our Digby settlers. The Digby Regiment of Militia was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Isaac Hatfield with John Cosman as a Lieutenant. This was 1793.
The marriage of Captain John Cosman to Susanna McConnell, daughter of Benjamin, senior, of Sissiboo, is recorded November 6, 1794.
John was on the Role of Grand Jurors for the County of Annapolis. He also served the Farming and Agricultural Society of St. Mary's Bay and Sissiboo as a Committee member in 1819.
Wilson reports on page 371 that, "Capt. John Cosman died during March, 1932, at Sissiboo, childless. The Cosmans now in our county are descended from James Cosman, the Loyalist.
Darlene Love notes:
In 1864 there were 45 large sawmills in Digby County as well as many smaller ones. Some of the earlier ones were erected by Solomon Bunnell & Samuel Goldsbury on the Sissiboo River and by Col. Taylor & John Journeay on Indian Creek in 1784. Col. Moody & Capt. John Cosman erected one on Cosman's Creek in 1790. Enough lumber was being sawn in the St. Mary's Bay area to support an export trade with the West Indies by the 1790's. Lumber was bought from mill owners at .00 per thousand board feet and sold in the West Indies at .00 per thousand.
Digby was named in honour of Robert Digby, a British Admiral, who commanded the convoy "Atlanta" which brought 1500 Loyalist refugees from New England in 1783. Among the Loyalists settling in Digby was John Edison from Newark, New Jersey. He brought his family with him and remained until 1810. In April, 1799, he was appointed a director of the town marsh and in 1808 assessor. In 1804, a grandson, Samuel, was born in Digby, who, in 1847, at Milan, Ohio, became the father of Thomas Alva Edison, the famous inventor. One of the features of the town is the old "Admiral's Well", dug at that time, on the Cannon Banks at the head of the pier where the ferry used to dock on her daily trips from Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick.
On the night of the 13th instant, Captain George Harding, the commanding officer, having information that a party of rebels from New-Ark, (who used to invest this shore and carry off our men) had gone over to Bergen Neck; he detached Captain John Cosman with a small party of men to intercept them;
Accordingly Capt. Cosman fell in with a party of about ten commanded by Captain Dayton, (son to Col. Dayton) whom he instantly attacked, took two prisoners, and killed or wounded another; and retook a parcel of goods that the rebels had carried with them, and arrived at the garrison about one o'clock. The darkness of the night favoured the escape of the rest.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Research notes by L.N. and G.B. Upton list Johannes as a possible son of Johannes Cosman (Kausman-2) and Barbara Van Zandt-86. Their total comments are:
"Hans (Haunze) Cosman was exempt from military service in 1779 (p. 7,#11). He was assessed in Newburgh for highway labor in 1785 (p. 2, #3). He was perhaps born about 1763. Was he John? Hans and John are supposedly the same as Johannes. If so, was the John Cosman who in 1801 received a grant of land in Nova Scotia? (p.2,#4)"
The list of references are no longer with the notes I have.
